Getting to the I Do’s ~ The Way to a Man’s ♥ is through his Stomach & Recipes to Get You Everything You Want in Life

There are many factors in being the best wife possible. Years ago, our mothers & grandmothers were stay-at-home moms. In this tough economy, most couples are equally the bread winners. Nowadays, you balance a career, family, friends, and on top of all those responsibilities, you’re preparing to be someone’s husband or wife. Once upon a time true story…Getting to the I Do’s — There was an easy roast chicken recipe, handed down by a fashion editor at Glamour Magazine to her assistant, who was in search of a dish to prepare for dinner with her boyfriend. She made the chicken. Her boyfriend loved it. He had seconds. And shortly thereafter, he proposed. But that’s not all: Three more young women at the magazine made the chicken for the men in their lives, who then, in short order, popped the question. Soon after, Glamour published the recipe, dubbing it, naturally, Engagement Chicken – and since then, the magazine editors have heard from more than 70 women who have gotten engaged after making the dish. Commitment-phobes be warned: This bird means business!

the details… The recipe titles are fun, inviting and a little sexy. Here’s a peek at one of my many favorite recipes.


Simply Sophisticated Seared Tuna
1 tablespoon peeled and minced fresh ginger
1 garlic clove, minced
2 tablespoons brown sugar
¼ cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 6-ounce tuna steaks, about ¾-inch thick
Salt and freshly ground pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 scallions, thinly sliced


Directions:
1. In a deep dish or pie plate mix the ginger, garlic, brown sugar, soy sauce, and lemon juice. Stir until combined.
2. Season the tuna generously with salt and pepper on both sides. Place the tuna in the dish with the marinade and turn to coat. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour, turning the fish at least once.
3. In a large cast-iron skillet, heat 1 tablespoon oil moderate-heat.
4. Remove the tuna from the marinade, pat dry, and add the steaks to the skillet. Cook, turning once, until browned and just cooked through, about 8 minutes total. Transfer to plates and sprinkle with scallions. Serve. (If desired, heat the remaining marinade in a small saucepan and boil for 2 minutes, then serve with the tuna).


Yes, I’m a sucker for sushi and this will hold me over until I’m able to go to my favorite sushi spot. I have two treats for you!

 An Engaging Evening on September 16th... I had the pleasure of being invited to a special Jobyna's Bridal by INES DI SANTO VIP event at Americana at Brand in Glendale, CA. The evening started with a Bridal Series at Jobyna's Bridal Salon pre-viewing the most stunning Bridal Couture Gowns by INES DI SANTO;elegant, chic, glamorous headpieces and accessories by Maria Elena. Next too your engagement ring bling her designs are glistening with SPARKLY BLING. Later that evening there was a private reception on the green of Americana courtyard. If you've never visited the Americana at Brand its breathtaking and absolutely one of my favorite places to shop. A little secret... I actually arrived an hour early , so I could do some shopping. I had just enough time to place my purchases in the car before hobnobbing with some of the finest people in the industry.

I couldn't help myself to Twitter to my followers this band is amazing, such a magical night under the stars listening to the live band sing Boogie Oogie Oogie by Taste of Honey. To top the evening off Jobyna's Bridal showcases a Couture Fashion Show of INES DI SANTO stunning gowns for the Fall. Not just any gowns , but show stopping, jaw dropping I'm so glad she has accepted to be my bride and now I can't wait to say I Do and make her my wife. (I Found My Everything- originally by Mary J. Blige , but have Chuck Wansley After Hours sang it for you). Just the song you would love your groom to serenade too you at your wedding reception.  Not done yet there's lots more. Special Guest Editor-In-Chief of Wedding Style "Grace Ormonde" Famed Couture Designer was on hand to share her latest hardcover book titled " being in love never goes out of style"- 416 pages, 14x 12" canvas, more than 375 images of extraordinary real weddings to inspire your imagination. Grace Ormonde was gracious enough to personally sign a copy for me. Many Thanks she's someone to admire for her continued contribution to the wedding industry. the details...Chocolate Bride~Vanilla Groom "The Flavors of LOVE"

There are many choices in choosing Ice Cream. Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Chocolate Chip so many more. Who says we need to like only one flavor? The same goes for love…



When it comes to the flavors of love, how many are there? MANY! Sometimes you choose love and sometimes love chooses you. Either way there are no limitations on the flavors of love. It’s a choice and no one has the right to be judge and jury of your relationship. Be open to the possibilities and when you least expect it love just might step in.

Today’s flavor of love is Chocolate Bride, Brittany and Vanilla Groom, Cameron – a combination of Pralines ‘N Cream, their ice cream of choice.

About the Bride: Brittany is a high school teacher in Houston , TX and has been teaching for 3 1/2 yrs , holds a bachelors degree in music and trained in voice to sing opera. About the Groom: Cameron graduated from Texas Bible Institute in 2006 and is currently finishing his Bachelor of Science degree in audio production at The Art Institute. Currently he is the lead guitarist at Houston Worship Center and also teaches guitar lessons for a major retail store.

The Beginning…“When I was in Houston on business a year ago, Brittany and I meet for lunch and at that time she was single. Deciding to take a step back on dating and seek more of a spiritual journey to re-establish a relationship with the Lord. Something I believe in for any relationship to stand on its own. Brittany’s decision to put God first was setting her steps for a new beginning and their beginning started at Church. The couple’s families have known each other for years through Brittany Dad congregation. However, the couple had never meet until she started going to the Church where Cameron worships and is lead guitarist. By the way Brittany now sings there. Match made in musical heaven? Absolutely!”


The Middle: On May 27th, Cameron surprised Brittany at the high school where she is a speech and debate teacher. One of her students who also is taking cosmetology mentioned to Brittany that she had written an essay about her favorite teacher. The favorite teacher was Brittany and the student won the essay contest. The prize was a free manicure from the cosmetology department. The student asked Miss Rodgers if she could come and get her manicure during her 6th period conference time? Of course, she agreed! Who would pass up the opportunity to get a free Mani! There was just 2 minutes left during her conference time and she needed to get back to class. Upon entering her class she noticed on the chalk board “WILL YOU MARRY ME?” Cameron came from the corner followed by her sister, a few faculty members with flowers in hand. Next thing Cameron was down on bended knee. By this time the bell had rung, a crowd of students had gathered by the door cheering and clapping.

Bride-to-Be Quote “It was amazing, better than I could have ever imagined!”


To be continued… Oh and of course she said “YES” When you have a solid foundation to start with the blessings are yours. I’m so happy for Brittany and Cameron. We wish them peace, unconditional love and happiness as they start their new life together. I did ask the couple a few key questions, as they both know some people only believe in one flavor, but we believe love has many Flavors.

Ques: How long had you two dated before Cameron Proposed and have you set a Wedding Date yet?


Answer: “We dated for 9 months. Our wedding date is January 1, 2011. New Year~New Beginnings!”

Ques: Have you two encountered any obstacles in your relationship and if so how will you both handle them?

Answer: “We both weren’t raised to see the difference in color, but we’re not blind. We may encounter some judgment – but with that being said, we both have a strong spirituality for God and are considering premarital counseling through my Dad’s congregation for 3 weeks as well as Cameron & I home church for an additional 3 weeks.”

Ques: What was different with Cameron than past relationships?

Answer: “I felt really comfortable with him right away and he didn’t play any games. We bonded spiritually and mentally. I can say we are truly best friends.”


Ques: What’s your favorite flavor of ice cream?

Answer: “We both love Pralines’N Cream!”
