In the Beginning... Kesha & Eugene


The Beginning of Chocolate LOVE~ Kesha Monk, planning a New York wedding while living in Chicago and her fiance' Eugene living in Los Angeles was no easy task. They both depended on the Internet in search of wedding resources for their nuptials; while eagerly viewing site after site Kesha quickly learned there was a tremendous void in the wedding marketplace. The void was: extreme difficulty finding anything that truly represented her as a bride of color. Several mainstream wedding websites were unable to provide the newly engaged coupled wedding inspiration that would specifically represent the two of them and their culture. I'm a huge advocate that sometimes you need to create your own destiny and not wait on others to pave the way for you. On June 15th my team and I attended the CRAVE Los Angeles Book Launch at the Urban Craft Center in Santa Monica. CRAVE Los Angeles is a celebration of women entrepreneurs that showcases some of the most creative, interesting, and gutsy proprietors throughout our city.

the details...Chocolate Bride~Vanilla Groom "The Flavors of LOVE"


There are many choices in choosing Ice Cream. Vanilla, Chocolate, Strawberry, Chocolate Chip so many more. Who says we need to like only one flavor? The same goes for love…



When it comes to the flavors of love, how many are there? MANY! Sometimes you choose love and sometimes love chooses you. Either way there are no limitations on the flavors of love. It’s a choice and no one has the right to be judge and jury of your relationship. Be open to the possibilities and when you least expect it love just might step in.

Today’s flavor of love is Chocolate Bride, Brittany and Vanilla Groom, Cameron – a combination of Pralines ‘N Cream, their ice cream of choice.

About the Bride: Brittany is a high school teacher in Houston , TX and has been teaching for 3 1/2 yrs , holds a bachelors degree in music and trained in voice to sing opera. About the Groom: Cameron graduated from Texas Bible Institute in 2006 and is currently finishing his Bachelor of Science degree in audio production at The Art Institute. Currently he is the lead guitarist at Houston Worship Center and also teaches guitar lessons for a major retail store.

The Beginning…“When I was in Houston on business a year ago, Brittany and I meet for lunch and at that time she was single. Deciding to take a step back on dating and seek more of a spiritual journey to re-establish a relationship with the Lord. Something I believe in for any relationship to stand on its own. Brittany’s decision to put God first was setting her steps for a new beginning and their beginning started at Church. The couple’s families have known each other for years through Brittany Dad congregation. However, the couple had never meet until she started going to the Church where Cameron worships and is lead guitarist. By the way Brittany now sings there. Match made in musical heaven? Absolutely!”


The Middle: On May 27th, Cameron surprised Brittany at the high school where she is a speech and debate teacher. One of her students who also is taking cosmetology mentioned to Brittany that she had written an essay about her favorite teacher. The favorite teacher was Brittany and the student won the essay contest. The prize was a free manicure from the cosmetology department. The student asked Miss Rodgers if she could come and get her manicure during her 6th period conference time? Of course, she agreed! Who would pass up the opportunity to get a free Mani! There was just 2 minutes left during her conference time and she needed to get back to class. Upon entering her class she noticed on the chalk board “WILL YOU MARRY ME?” Cameron came from the corner followed by her sister, a few faculty members with flowers in hand. Next thing Cameron was down on bended knee. By this time the bell had rung, a crowd of students had gathered by the door cheering and clapping.

Bride-to-Be Quote “It was amazing, better than I could have ever imagined!”


To be continued… Oh and of course she said “YES” When you have a solid foundation to start with the blessings are yours. I’m so happy for Brittany and Cameron. We wish them peace, unconditional love and happiness as they start their new life together. I did ask the couple a few key questions, as they both know some people only believe in one flavor, but we believe love has many Flavors.

Ques: How long had you two dated before Cameron Proposed and have you set a Wedding Date yet?


Answer: “We dated for 9 months. Our wedding date is January 1, 2011. New Year~New Beginnings!”

Ques: Have you two encountered any obstacles in your relationship and if so how will you both handle them?

Answer: “We both weren’t raised to see the difference in color, but we’re not blind. We may encounter some judgment – but with that being said, we both have a strong spirituality for God and are considering premarital counseling through my Dad’s congregation for 3 weeks as well as Cameron & I home church for an additional 3 weeks.”

Ques: What was different with Cameron than past relationships?

Answer: “I felt really comfortable with him right away and he didn’t play any games. We bonded spiritually and mentally. I can say we are truly best friends.”


Ques: What’s your favorite flavor of ice cream?

Answer: “We both love Pralines’N Cream!”

1. the details…Hire a Wedding Planner: A wedding planner is a priceless addition in the design and organization of your wedding these days. With today’s growling workloads, tight daily schedules and commitments the planning of ones wedding is an added stress most of us could do without. Consider adding the professional expertise of a wedding planner that you fell comfortable with to take the strain out of your plans. drezrehersal most basic duties are to plan coordinate and direct your wedding, but the services don’t stop there. We also wear the hat of confidant, advisor, negotiator, stylist/designer, and last but not least friend. Wedding Planners are not the same as your Church Coordinator or Catering Manager. We work for you under your direction and with your approval. Bottom line we lookout for your budget and best interest’s. drezrehersal will be the point person on the wedding day- with years of experience we are able to foresee problems and head them off. We are prepared to handle unexpected situations and minor disasters and solve them quickly. 2. the details…Create a Budget (Getting Organized): Creating a budget is a must before any planning can be set into motion. This should be done with all those involved in the finances of the wedding. If family members are contributing to your special day at least know how much they will contribute. You & Fiancé should sit down and talk about the wedding you want. After deciding on some general parameters, you will want to have a system that will help you best determine and track cost. The Bachelor is Back...

Ladies and Gentlemen this is your Wedding Planner speaking. Please prepare for take off. The Bachelor is Back... Season Premier of abc most popular and highest rated show is Back tonight. The Bachelor Monday, January 4th 8/7c. Who says flying doesn't have its advantages? The new Bachelor-Jake Pavelka 31-year old handsome guy next door and commercial pilot from Dallas. Hmmmm I've never seen him on any flights I've flown to Dallas. Let's watch to see if Jake will jet off into the sunset with one of the 25 Bachelorettes or if he will leave them all on the runway, like pass Bachelor's. Either way I'm a hopeless romantic for "LOVE" and will be watching to see if he will or if he wont fly into the sunset with an "I Do" PS- I will also keep you posted on who he should keep each week and give them their rose & frequent flyer miles or depart with a one way ticket.
