Birthday Letter in Search of a "Better Me"


~Starters~I know for most of us we start off by reading our daily horoscope for the day. If it says something wonderful we believe it. If its not exactly what we want to hear we call it hog wash. We'll I must admit occasionally I do view my daily horoscope, but regardless if the outcome is favorable or not so favorable ; I know it's just something to get me going. What I read doesn't make what will happen for that day. I make what will happen for that day, by my thoughts and actions. So for the sake of FUN I'm going to share what my Horoscope says for the month of September provided by Glamour Magazine Glamourscope & Cosmo Astrologer. Just to give you an insight my Birthday falls on the cusp, so sometimes I'm a Virgo and other times I'm a Libra. I'm definitely a true VIRGO though.

Living life like everyday is a FABULOUS Party...

Every year prior to my Birthday month I reflect on the year and review goals, dreams ambitions I have set out for myself. Whether I have accomplished them or not. Life isn't a dress rehearsal and each day counts for something. Life is short and it goes by so quickly. I remember when I was 29 and let it be know I'm still 29 (smile). One thing I can truly say is I'm blessed to have good genes. Thank you Mommy. It doesn't stop there though, but I'll get into a little later. Celebrating another birthday is a blessing and not to reflect on your life is a disadvantage to the growth of you as an individual. I started with the horoscope to set a tone, that it's all in FUN, however my daily recipe for guidance in my life is "GOD". Without him nothing is possible and my guidance & direction for my life comes from faith and daily prayer. Each morning the first thing I do is pray and give thanks for another day along with Reading Today's Word from Joel & Victoria Osteen and then watching my morning pick me up with Creflo Dollar. Having a strong foundation of faith is key and the shield to get me through each day. I would be dishonest if I said I don't encounter obstacles, however if you follow my Blog you will know where I stand on overcoming obstacles, so I won't go into it here.

I recently wrote an article for Weddzilla on 5 Things I Recommend Every Women To Do Prior To Marriage ~ Life Lessons In Search for Happiness. The responses and replies I received were overwhelming and I was ask to share more tips on Life Lessons In Search for Happiness. Over the month of September, I will share 22 Reasons Why I'm a Better Me. Why 22? because it's my Birthday. Celebrating your Birthday is a moment in time to reflect on your life. If things aren't going perfectly for you, you didn't get the promotion, you broke it off with your boyfriend or girlfriend, you're not where you expected to be in life; those are all just obstacles that you may have encounter. It doesn't mean it will be that way forever. It's your life and if you want better things to happen then you need to stepped out on faith and push, pray until your dream has come true. No one makes it happen for me, but "ME" I create my own destiny and have the determination and ambition to succeed as far as my dreams will lead me. Of course my ultimate cheerleader is "GOD" directing my footsteps one step at a time.

I have had to clean house of many things, people who were holding me back or didn't have my best interest at heart. There comes a time in life where you just get it. It has nothing to do with you, but more about "Me" and what I want for my life. Happiness Inside & Out. Genuinely to BE HAPPY. I'm on a mission for a "BETTER ME" and sometimes that means in order to expand your vision you must close the window on others.

I’ve encounter frustrations, distractions, challenges along the way. Things we all go through in life, however it has made me a "BETTER ME" because of it. I have truly come into my own . What that means is I have finally arrived to be comfortable in my own skin and that is ultimately a refreshing feeling to have. By me sharing my experiences , hopefully I can reach one teach one. You only live one life, make the most of it. With no disappointments and no regrets. I'm often ask what are your plans for the next 5 years? As I have said life is not a dress rehearsal, but the wedding planning process is. My career (drezrehersal) is a LIFESTYLE and my plan is to continue to live everyday like its a FABULOUS Party.

GLAM'ONDAY ALERT...Lifestyle Etiquette~Getting Back to Thank You...

Thank You... two simple words that seem very difficult for some individuals to say or do. I'm huge on Thank You's. It shows that you go the extra mile for the smallest thing. Often I'm out shopping for the best deals for my clients and on occasion I love to frequent stationery stores to stock-up on note cards, thank you cards as well as stationery paper. Not just any , but the most eye catching GLAM FAB. Of course my way of living is all in the details and that represents just about everything I do. I keep a special organized box that holds just about any card you can think of for special occasions or just because. There's never a need to run to the store if I'm attending a B'Day Party, Engagement Gathering, Bridal Shower or even a Wedding. Maybe you went the extra mile for me and I want to show my appreciation. You got it I'm always covered there.

Getting Back to Thank You... Everyone seems to be in a rush these days and the etiquette on personal correspondence has gone right out the window. I know we all have busy lives , however most have let technology pave the way for them. We often rely on Text, BBM, Twitter, Facebook and occasionally Emails. No wonder many of the Postal Offices are closing down, because majority of us are no longer using. There's nothing more fabulous then showing someone you really appreciated them attending your bridal shower, wedding, baby shower , birthday party; gave you a referral; made the connection for that interview, purchased a gift for you or they just did something special. Let's get back to the proper etiquette of sending a hand written personalized note card or thank you card. You're probably more app to do if you had some eye catching stationery you just couldn't wait to put the pen to.

The 3 W's When, Who, Why... (If you keep the 3 W's in mind you'll never go wrong- Oops that makes 4 W's ~smile:

WHEN: Send your thank you notes as quickly as possible. Typically send within the week after the event or occasion has passed. Depending on what type of event it was ie: Wedding, it can take 2 to 3 weeks especially if you're traveling for your honeymoon, but you shouldn't delay any later than that. A birthday thank you note is of the less formal variety than a wedding or confirmation thank you note, but its timeliness is critically important. Ideally, it should be sent a few days after the birthday.

Notes may be sent on informal stationery, except for wedding thank you notes which are generally sent on formal stationery. drezrehersal Tip... Order your thank you note cards at the same time as your wedding invitations with your return address already pre-printed for you. You can take it a step further and pre-print guests labels from your RSVP list then place the stamp on. WHO: This way all you need to do is personally write a thank you for each guests and drop it in the mail. When personalizing your thank you cards always make specific reference to the gift that is the subject of the note, such as "Thank you so much for the Tiffany Crystal Goblets". We're definitely going to use for our first dinner in our new home as Husband & Wife.


WHY: Even though most thank you notes can be sent on informal stationery, that doesn't mean it's okay to use a piece of paper torn from your child's notepad. Find note cards that reflect your personality, and keep a ready supply on hand. They don't need to cost a lot of money. In fact, if you shop diligently, you can find inexpensive, attractive cards. Dippin' Dots Root Beer Float: The root beer must be very cold when you make these floats, or the dippin' dots will melt quickly. drezrehersal  Bonus Tip... 
Put your float glasses in the freezer for 15 mins for a frostier float.

Vanilla dippin' dots

Ingredients:

~2 scoops super-premium ice cream

~16 oz. bottle A & W or Dad's Root Beer (for Foamier Float)

~1 scoop of Root Beer Float dippin' dots sprinkled on Top

Preparation:Pour about 1/2 cup root beer into the bottom of each glass. Carefully add one scoop of ice cream to each glass, then fill the glass with more root beer. The glasses will probably overflow - that's part of the fun! ten sprinkled the root beer dippin' dot's on top.
Eat slowly, starting with the cold frozen foam on top mixed w/ the root beer dippin' dots, scooping ice cream and root beer together with your spoon, then drinking the creamy,
caramel colored root beer as crunchy meets smooth. Yummy'luscious

Banana Split dippin' dots

Dippin' Dots Banana Split:

Make sure your banana's are in season and firm, not too ripe. Otherwise it will be more like baby food than a Yummy'luscious banana split.

Ingredients:

~2 ripe-firm bananas, halved lengthwise

~2-3 scoops of  premium vanilla ice cream

~whipped cream as much as you like go crazy

~1 cup banana split dippin' dots sprinkled on top of whipped cream

~have a variety of sauces available at the dessert bar store brought or homemade  

   (chocolate, caramel or strawberry)

~have peanuts and shaved toasted almonds available at the dessert bar.

  They may choose  one or both

~cherries

Preparation:

Place the ripe-firm bananas in a large dish. Scoop 3 to 4 balls of ice cream onto the bananas. Top with the whipped cream, sprinkled banana split dippin' dots on top, then place the sauce of your choice on top along with peanuts or almonds and don't forget the cherries.

To give you a little insight on what I called an experience, search for true happiness with one self. Elizabeth Gilbert in her early thirties had everything a women could every dream of or want at that age. The so called American white picket fence dream; successful career, husband and yes the American dream of owning your own home- not just any home a country home. That should make anyone happy right? Nope, instead of feeling happy and fulfilled, she was consumed by panic & confusion. Something many women go through at one point in their life. We try to be everything to everyone except the person that counts the most; yourself. I have been blessed too have many wonderful life experiences that can make you or break you. Prior to me starting my event planning business, I had the opportunity to travel some parts of the world and there's nothing more fulfilling then traveling alone across the country. In order to find out just who you are, what you want out of life and then be able to completely give yourself to a mate; you must experience spending time alone. Truly alone.

5 Things I recommend every women to do prior to marriage.


1. Live alone. This means living completely on your own without a roommate.
2. Travel alone. Solo, just you- No BFF, No Go-to-Girls, No Boyfriend.
3. Eat at a Five Star Restaurant- Yes Alone (Doing something special for yourself, eat till your heart is content-Really Eat, glass of wine, 3 course meal and last but not least dessert-Go for it.
4. Attend a Movie (Laugh, Cry just be one w/ you).
5. Take a Yoga Class-Solo, just you- No BFF, No Go-to-Girls. (Getting closer to your heart & soul).


It may seem trivial, but not everyone is comfortable being alone. You must learn how to spend time with yourself, before you can be part of a "UNION". If you take this journey you will learn some key points about who you really are , what your desires and dreams are for your life. Not what society says we should have. The grass isn't always greener on the other side and you never know how high that mountain was too climb for someone else's success. A successful career, diamonds & pearls, the finest car, big house, money in the bank, marriage along with the white picket fence is absolutely meaningless if you're not HAPPY.


Take a leap of faith and go see the movie EAT PRAY LOVE "ALONE". Experience the life changing moments of Elizabeth Gilbert, which is played by the beautiful Julia Roberts and you may be surprised to learn what I know will be some key points about yourself. The character in the movie travels through India, Italy and Indonesia. I have visited Bali which was a life changing experience for me and actually open my mind, heart and soul to experience life to the fullest. During that life changing moment I knew I wanted too create my own destiny, which was living everyday like a Fabulous Party. My business was born from that moment on. I am open to the possibilities that life has to offer and each day can & will be much more rewarding if you are in-tune with yourself 100%.


It's disturbing when I hear women say he completes me. No one should complete you. You are the key to your own happiness. A mate can make your life more rewarding, but should you not have someone special in your life doesn't mean you are worth anything less. Learn to love you, before you say yes to a "UNION".

Seven5 Seven3 Ques: What obstacles have you faced in your business, how did you surmount them?


Answer: As an entrepreneur you will encounter obstacles. The biggest obstacles for business owners are fear of failure, fear of making mistakes, fear of too much success. There will be challenges, obstacles along the way, however its learning how to approach them head on and deal with it.


1. Obstacles for me I call “Hiccups”, turning what most may think is a negative word to a word that is more attainable to deal with. “Hiccup” When I started I quickly learned not to take what people said at face value. Promises, Commitments, etc. Documenting detailed contracts became very important for me. Especially in my business. I’m working on behalf of my client and our core job is to make sure they receive everything they were promise.

2. Having a good support team: This means Friends, Family, Associates and Staff. You need positive reinforcement & support to succeed. If the closest people in your circle aren’t supportive or positive that can put a damper on your vision for success. Press the unread button quickly. This means you deal with at a distance. There’s nothing more frustrating then working with someone who doesn’t have the passion you do. If you don’t have passion for your business you have failed and it’s time to get out.

All in All life isn't perfect you will encounter many obstacles along the way. Its part of your growth process for a better you. I have a strong faith in God and when things don't go just right, I laugh & say to myself;  just a minor hiccup. Do what I need to do to make things smooth and move on. Don't dwell on it and as much as I love parties I don't throw myself a "Pity Party".
