Getting to the I Do’s ~ The Way to a Man’s ♥ is through his Stomach & Recipes to Get You Everything You Want in Life
There are many factors in being the best wife possible. Years ago, our mothers & grandmothers were stay-at-home moms. In this tough economy, most couples are equally the bread winners. Nowadays, you balance a career, family, friends, and on top of all those responsibilities, you’re preparing to be someone’s husband or wife. I have an inside sneak peek for any woman who is newly engaged, newly married or preparing to get to the I Do’s and wants to stir the pot – in the kitchen, in love, and in life.
OK, I must say I have the best of both worlds. I adore my career, I love entertaining, and I like to eat. Oh, did I mention I’m a great cook, as well? As a child, I absolutely loved watching my mother & grandmother cook in the kitchen from scratch. What is Scratch? A home-cooked meal made from all fresh ingredients, not from a box & most of all, made with LOVE. Since I was a little girl, I was told, "The way to a man’s heart is through his stomach". Needless to say, it’s not the only way, but an important detail. Ladies, when you know how to cook — “REALLY COOK” — for your man, there’s no greater joy than to see the pure essence of love on his face when he sits back and says, “Aww baby, that was delicious.”

in the kitchen, in love, and in life |
Once upon a time true story…Getting to the I Do’s — There was an easy roast chicken recipe, handed down by a fashion editor at Glamour Magazine to her assistant, who was in search of a dish to prepare for dinner with her boyfriend. She made the chicken. Her boyfriend loved it. He had seconds. And shortly thereafter, he proposed. But that’s not all: Three more young women at the magazine made the chicken for the men in their lives, who then, in short order, popped the question. Soon after, Glamour published the recipe, dubbing it, naturally, Engagement Chicken – and since then, the magazine editors have heard from more than 70 women who have gotten engaged after making the dish. Commitment-phobes be warned: This bird means business!
Sneak Peek… Now, most of you know I’m an accomplished wedding & lifestyle producer, and the Los Angeles Go-to-Girl for Glamour Magazine. The reason behind why I have my hands on a copy prior to it going on sale. But, I’m providing you a sneak peek and giving you a heads up on a few of the details…

the details… The recipe titles are fun, inviting and a little sexy. Here’s a peek at one of my many favorite recipes.
Simply Sophisticated Seared Tuna
1 tablespoon peeled and minced fresh ginger
1 garlic clove, minced
2 tablespoons brown sugar
¼ cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
2 6-ounce tuna steaks, about ¾-inch thick
Salt and freshly ground pepper
1 tablespoon olive oil
2 scallions, thinly sliced
Directions:
1. In a deep dish or pie plate mix the ginger, garlic, brown sugar, soy sauce, and lemon juice. Stir until combined.
2. Season the tuna generously with salt and pepper on both sides. Place the tuna in the dish with the marinade and turn to coat. Cover and refrigerate for 1 hour, turning the fish at least once.
3. In a large cast-iron skillet, heat 1 tablespoon oil moderate-heat.
4. Remove the tuna from the marinade, pat dry, and add the steaks to the skillet. Cook, turning once, until browned and just cooked through, about 8 minutes total. Transfer to plates and sprinkle with scallions. Serve. (If desired, heat the remaining marinade in a small saucepan and boil for 2 minutes, then serve with the tuna).
Yes, I’m a sucker for sushi and this will hold me over until I’m able to go to my favorite sushi spot. I have two treats for you!
First Treat…On this upcoming GLAM’ONDAY we will be tweeting titles of additional recipes that I think are fabulous for entertaining on all levels using the hashtag: #100recipes @glamr100recipes. Follow us throughout the day @weplanevents and feel free to RT the tweets you think sound yummy for your tummy.
Just a reminder that we think love, engagements and marriage go hand & hand. It’s an equal playing field, and I personally think it’s sexy when a man says, “Honey I got this!” And gets in the kitchen just as good as I can. Even better is doing it together as a partnership. Guys, flip the script, and learn the recipe to engagement chicken, and maybe she’ll be proposing to you. (Smiles & Happy Cooking).
