ASK KIMBERLY...

How Do I Say "YES" to the Perfect Dress?
As you start your search for the perfect dress, hit bridal boutiques armed with your own “look book,” containing magazine tear-outs, photos from friends’ weddings, fabric swatches―anything that helps you communicate your taste to the sales staff or your wedding planner. And be completely candid about your budget from the get-go. That way, you won't waste a single moment trying on dresses you'll never end up buying or could ever afford.
Keep the below points in mind when searching for your perfect dress. Start your day with a positive attitude and be open to a variety of styles. Trust me you will know the moment you have found that perfect dress. When you get that feeling, there's no turning back go with your gut and say "YES" this is my Perfect Dress.
~Don't try on dresses that fall outside your budget. It may only end in disappointment. Take the advice of the professionals, they do this for a living and have helped hundreds of brides before you.
~Keep in mind the season you will be married and ensure the fabric and style of your dress will be appropriate. Two important items you most definitely should keep in mind ; Are you having a traditional wedding or a more relaxed and casual affair?
~Don't be too concerned about trends when choosing your perfect wedding dress. Choose a dress that is comfortable and flattering to you, the style may be out in five years anyway. Year's later , you will look back on your photos and say what was I thinking?
~Shopping for your dress should be a pleasant experience. Have a support team. Key people only not a mini parade. Too many opinions can be stressful. Take your wedding planner, mother, sister or maid/matron of honor with you and squeeze in some lunch and a glass of champagne! Ultimately its your day & your decision.
This day is a pre-celebration for you and should be a wonderful experience. Stay calm and enjoy the moment. Have a question for Kimberly? Just email your question and we'll post the answer anonymously here at: the details...the drezrehersal...the I Do's.

ASK KIMBERLY...

How do you handle a close friends jealously now that you are planning your wedding and not much free time to hangout.?

If she's a true friend then you must sit down with her and talk it out-extend an olive branch. Alot of time goes into planning a wedding and often you don't have as much time as you used to and friends can fell a little isolated. Your focus has become planning your special day and spending time with your fiance and new family. If you truly value her as friend then let her know its nothing personal, however your responsibilities have shifted a bit and she should support and be happy for you as a friend. Your status has change from fiancee to bride-to-be and how important that is to you. Although you will be married soon, she is still your friend and you will most definitely make time for her. Another olive branch is to ask her to assist you with some details on your wedding. This will let her know you are committed to the friendship and how important she is , that you felt comfortable enough to asked her to assist in your special day. the I Do's: Once you say I Do your are in the honeymoon stages. Blissfully Happy. Please make sure not to forget you are separate people and each have different interest's. Some will be the same and some wont. If you isolate your friends during this time. When you really need them, they wont be there for you. You are now Mrs. ________, but you still should have your own identity. Love and respect your husband and the union you two have joined, but don't forget about your true friends who were there for you when you were single & searching.

the I Do's...

Bruce Jenner, Olympic Medal winner and Stepfather to Khloe Kardashian walked her down the aisle on Sunday, Sept 27th at 4:30 pm . Having work with Bruce, he is a traditional guy and can do without all the fan flair. So needless to say the quick nuptials were a surprise. Bruce heard about Khloe’s initial engagement news through Ryan Seacrest's radio show. "Honestly I thought it was a joke," he said. "Then I was on the driving range later that day and someone came up to me and said, 'Congratulations, I hear your daughter is getting married.' Then it was on the news that night and I thought, maybe there is something to this." Well they all do make good TV, so wouldn't you know the wedding footage from the reality star's nuptials to Los Angeles Lakers forward Lamar Odom will air on a special episode of Keeping Up With the Kardashians: The Wedding on Nov. 8 at 9 p.m. E.T. I wish the happy couple many blissful years together and I will personally be Keeping Up With the Kardashians. View photo's of Khloe & Lamar Dream Wedding.

8 Ways to Get the Best Wedding Photos

by Lucy Manalo of Manalo Empire Photography
You have the “perfect” man. You've got your “this-is-the-one” dress. You've secured the perfect wedding location. Now all you need is someone to capture the memories that will last a lifetime. Here are eight ways to ensure you get the best images on your wedding day.
1. Do Your Homework To get the best wedding photos, you need to start before your big day and find the best photographer for YOU. For this, you need to do your research. Here’s how: Narrow it down to about 3 choices and interview each one. Look at their portfolios. Ask to see samples of their work, albums and slideshows. Do they have a wide range of work? Do they have a website? Ask to see a whole wedding they’ve shot, not just a few pictures. You may come to find out later that they may not work well under certain conditions, and you don’t want to find out the hard way. Find out what can they offer you. Is it a style that you prefer? Can they tailor their style to meet your needs? Find someone who is willing to work with you, not against you.

2. Schedule an Engagement Session
Yes, I’m a big proponent of e-sessions. Why? Three reasons:It gives you a chance to get to know your photographer before your big day. He or she is going to be with you for most of your day, so it’s a good idea to get to know this person before the big event. You get a chance to see their style of shooting firsthand and ask questions. Are they a director or are they a “just let it happen” kind of shooter? What kind of equipment are they using and how do they use it? Can they pose you to make you look your best? The biggest advantage? You get to see samples of their work with YOU in them, before you make that final deposit.
3. Make Sure Your Hair and Makeup Are Perfect
If you want to look your best, always do a trial run before your wedding day so you can make any necessary tweaks before the big day. Here are a few things, from a photographer's point of view, to keep in mind:Bring a camera to the hair and makeup trial. You want to make sure the makeup works well on camera. Some makeup foundations/powders are highly reflective and can appear very white on film. Your makeup should last throughout your wedding, so wear it for a day and see what happens. You don’t want to find out on your big day that your makeup is gone after the first portion of your ceremony. Ask about wear-proof makeup, touch-ups or any other thing you might need to keep your makeup flawless. Stay away from glitter. Yes, shiny is pretty, but once that flash pops…you will get a lot of tiny bright white highlights in your pictures. For the groom, I recommend bringing some sort of blotting cloths or tissue to keep him from looking shiny, especially if it is hot. Shiny equals white on camera.
4. Create a Timeline
One of the best things you can do to eliminate stress for yourself on the big day is to create a timeline for your photographer. It's important to discuss when and where the shots will take place and to schedule plenty of time for your wedding photos. A less-stressed bride is a happy bride. And a happy bride makes for great photos.
5. Know What You Want What kind of shots are you envisioning for your big day? With most weddings, photographers know there is a general list of images to capture (i.e. the kiss, the first dance). But are there any other images you would like? Work with a photographer who understands what you want. I always ask my brides to think about whether there are any other shots they want from their wedding. For example, is there a special locket you want photographed? Maybe a pose you saw online? Discuss this with your photographer so he or she is aware of any other special requests and can accommodate you.Make sure your photographer doesn’t leave without saying goodbye. Before I leave I always ask my brides if there is anything else they would like photographed. Sometimes you realize at the end of the night that you’d like a photo with “Uncle Joe” who traveled all the way from another state or county. Maybe you even want one more of you dancing with your groom on the dance floor with some high school friends. So be sure your photographer is willing to work “on the fly” and capture any extras that you may have missed throughout the night.
6. Start Early on Your Big Day
I can’t stress this one enough. Things happen—traffic, delays, hair and makeup emergencies, etc.—so always plan at least one hour ahead of schedule. If you run over, you won't be stressed, and your photos can start on time. If you finish earlier, well that just means more photos of a happy bride!
7. Get Help
To keep you stress-free and looking great in your pictures, get help. Have someone else take care of things for you, whether it's a coordinator, friend or maid of honor. All questions should be directed to that person. You should be able to just sit back, relax and enjoy your day.
8. Be Yourself, Relax and Have Fun
Try to enjoy the moment! The best photos are one of a relaxed and happy bride. Sometimes people don’t realize that they wear their emotions on their face, which shows in pictures. So just sit back and enjoy your special day. Lucy Manalo is a photographer and owner of Manalo Empire Photography, located in Southern California. Photos by Manalo Empire Photography.

Experience Destination Weddings

A few weeks ago I was personally invited as a Premier Event Producer to attend a Celebrate Romance Media Event put on by Destination Weddings & Honeymoons Magazine. The event was at the legendary Beverly Hills Hotel and Susan Moynihan, Editor in Chief of Destination Weddings & Honeymoons, hosted a lively panel discussion with industry experts on the state of the romance market. As I mix and mingle with some of the world's top hotels, resort and romantic destinations, which many of them I have had the pleasure of doing business with.
The evening ended with cocktails, fabulous hors d'oeuvres served by the top notch staff at the Beverly Hills Hotel and lastly my favorite wedding cake (Red Velvet) by NancyKay's Confections. The Destination Wedding Cake was six layers and alternated between Red Velvet & Limoncello Lemon . Moist and Brilliant Red Velvet Cake Layered with Vanilla Bean Cream Cheese Frosting Filling and Limoncello Lemon Zest Cake Layered with Lemon Curd Fromage Filling. Simply Delicious. My evening cocktail was The Jet Setter. The prefect refreshing drink for your destination wedding.
Jet Setter Ingredients Chilled Champagne Glass
Some Part Champagne
Some Part Fresh Pomegranate Juice
Lot's Part Grey Goose
6 Fresh Black Berries
We are smooth sailing now...
Welcome to the Experience of Your Dreams
The ultimate wedding awaits you. It's a day you have fantasized about with all your girlfriends. Could you have ever imagined? A Destination Wedding. It's all about the Experience you create . An unforgettable celebration that is everything you've dreamt it would be.
Check Out My 5 Reasons Why Every Bride-to-Be should consider a Destination Wedding
1. It's Not As Expensive As You Might Think
Destination Wedding are a cost effective way to trim your budget. Majority of the savings comes from scaling back on your guest list. You are creating an experience for those that are truly close to you. Your guest list should include those who are near & dear to you. Having fewer attendees means you get to spend quality time with each of them and you & your fiance' will appreciate the experience even more.
2. The Experience
Having a Wedding Planner who is experienced in handling all the details of your Destination Wedding is crucial. It takes all the pressure off the Bride,Groom and your family. An Experienced Destination Wedding Planner will have relationships with venue locations and know all the rules that apply for that particular destination. Once you have selected your planner a production meeting is set with all those involved to discuss a theme that represents not only the two of you, but also ties in your surroundings.
3. Guests Enjoy a Discounted Vacation
drezrehersal works with the best of the best and we will arrange all the details for your guests and make sure everything runs smoothly. Groups rates on hotel rooms and airfare will help your guests get a vacation for less ; verses handling the details on their own. The only thing your guest will need to do is pack. With a destination experience, all of your guests stay at the same location, making it easier to coordinate memorable gathering & transportation for all your scheduled activities prior to the wedding day. Everyone gets to have fun & enjoy the experience you are creating. Keyword Experience not an Event! Who would not love that?
4. You're Forced To Relax
Nothing is more important than to let go of the control and allow the professionals to handle everything . Something serene happens when you travel away. It's always about being pampered and just enjoying the time away from home. Whether you travel an hour away or thousands of miles away. Destination Weddings give you the best of both worlds. Between all the activities you have planned you & your guests can enjoy the beautiful surroundings of your chosen destination.
5. Welcome to the Experience of Your Dreams
Inviting those who are nearest and dearest to you at this most important moment in your life. You have not just created a Special Day, but a guaranteed Experience your guests will treasure more than just a one day event.
Where Should I Experience the details???
Just a few destinations favorites of mine: Oahu-Hawaii, Maui-Hawaii, Costa Rica, Venice-Italy, Santa Barbara, Napa Valley, Riviera Maya-Mexico , Figi and Antigua.
A location I desire and dream to go to in the very near future: Dubai... visit the pristine waters of the Arabian Gulf which stands as the worlds one and only 7- Star Hotel, Burj Al Arab. Its unique architectural design, that resemble a billowing sail, makes it Dubai's number one landmark, and a world famous iconic structure that represents the spirit of Dubai. What a dream I have over and over in my head. Good things always come to those who wait patiently.
